Best to follow recipe because it will not blend very well with to much ice cream. Have only had the chance to use it once but was impressed. The milkshakes were very smooth like what you get at the ice cream parlour.
I think it is easier on the blender also. The design of the blade moves the ice cream and milk much faster. I love this blade. The blades makes making the milkshakes much easier.
While the Oster ice crusher can still make the shakes and smoothies, I'll say to be honest that it may not be a quality mix to the Oster milkshake blade. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. I find the Oster milkshake blade a good addition to the use of a multi-use blender. If you know how to create good shakes and smoothies and often make them for more than one person, this is a nice and near necessary piece to have. If im not mashing(Purée), crushing, chopping or mixing sauces, The milkshake blade does its purpose on the mixing side of shakes and smoothies. After comparing the mixing cycle of Oster ice crusher blade with the Oster milkshake blade when preparing shakes and smoothies using the same jar(after crushing ice with the ice crusher), I found that there is more aeration, and a much more even liquefying of the ingredients at a shorter time than the ice crusher.
Instead of chopping the content, it is emulsified a lot better than the blade. The item performs well as advertised.
Also, the shipping charge is ridiculous for this small item. I bought this item primarily to mix my fruit smoothies (mixed berries and a banana). Don't waste your money. The merchant probably paid no more than $2.50 to ship the item but charged over $6.00. I followed the directions but this blade does not blend all of the items very well (like the original blade). I used it twice and put it back in the box where it is now permanently stored.
